Adaptive Modal Space Control of Flexible Structures: Theory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Adaptive control of a flexible continuous structure is investigated. The application is directed toward large sensor count and several actuator systems,(multiple input / multiple output (MIMO) control. Conventional large channel count control applications involve complicated techniques to determine the proper order of the model and the dominant modes to be controlled. Using spatial filtering to transform the control problem to modal space, the order is tied (two) and control effort is expended only on problem modes. The response is mapped to modal space through the use of Modiiied Fieciprocal Modal Filter Vectors and control is achieved through parallel Self-Tuning regulators; force is then appropriated through the modal participation vectors. Development and stability analysis of these reduced order regulators for acceleration feedback is presented for an experimentally developed model of a cantilever beam

Uncertainty Modeling and Experiments in Control of Large Flexible Space Structures
Approaches to uncertainty modeling for robust control of large flexible space structures (LFSS’s) such as additive or multiplicative perturbations in H1 do not work very well because of the special properties of LFSS dynamics. In this paper, we propose the use of a left-coprime factorization (LCF) of LFSS dynamics in modal coordinates in order to get improved stability margins and performance i...
متن کاملDirect Model Reference Adaptive Control of a Flexible Robotic Manipulator
Quick, precise control of a flexible manipulator in a space environment is essential for future Space Station repair and satellite servicing. Numerous control algorithms have proven successful in controlling rigid manipulators with colocated sensors and actuators; however, few have been tested on a flexible manipulator with noncolocated sensors and actuators. In this thesis, a model reference a...
متن کاملDamage identification of structures using experimental modal analysis and continuous wavelet transform
Abstract: Modal analysis is a powerful technique for understanding the behavior and performance of structures. Modal analysis can be conducted via artificial excitation, e.g. shaker or instrument hammer excitation. Input force and output responses are measured. That is normally referred to as experimental modal analysis (EMA). EMA consists of three steps: data acquisition, system identificatio...
متن کاملNear-Minimum Time Optimal Control of Flexible Spacecraft during Slewing Maneuver
The rapid growth of space utilization requires extensive construction, and maintenance of space structures and satellites in orbit.
This will, in turn, substantiate application of robotic systems in space. In this paper, a near-minimum-time optimal control law is developed for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The time op...
